MTC's Aspire program offered at MGPL

The Aspire Program at Marion Technical College (MTC) is a tuition-free service for people who need to work on basic math, reading, or writing skills that help them be more successful in their college courses, their employment situation, or their preparations for taking a high school equivalency (HSE) exam. Both college students and non-college students participate in Aspire classes.

Classes will be held at the computer lab located inside the Mount Gilead Public Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 AM until 2:30 PM. Email Marion Technical College at aspire@mtc.edu or call 740-386-4123 and ask Liz for an Aspire admissions appointment

Aspire classes offer the following advantages:

  • Several locations, days, and times from which to choose to meet the learner’s schedule
  • Learners work at their own pace and have individualized learning plans
  • College students are able to stretch their financial aid dollars because classes are free
  • Instructors are knowledgeable about the demands of the GED, TASC, and HiSET high school equivalency (HSE) tests

Aspire students focus on one or more of the following:

  • Preparation for MTC’s college placement test (Accuplacer)
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills
  • HSE preparation (GED, TASC, HiSET)
  • Transition skills for employment and post-secondary education
